It's three, three, THREE blog posts in one!
First, the one where I tell you that my two red heads left for their annual South Carolina trip at 6:30 a.m. yesterday. Which is also the one where I tell you that Jason found out last night that his Jeep will need an alternator, and sooner, rather than later.
Thankfully, he brought his whole tool box, and he can do the work himself. He's at the campgrounds now, and if he needs someone to take him to a parts store there will be staff there until about noon. After that, he'll have to call his sister who lives in the next town over. I just hate the thought of spending the money!
Then, comes the one where I tell you what I weigh this week.
148, or back down to 89 pounds lost. That's a pound lost this week.
It's good, but I was hoping to be down to 137 by today, because it's my 10th anniversary, and some silly part of me wanted to be able to say, "Hey, I weigh 100 pounds less than I did on my wedding day!"
Silly girl.
I could try on my wedding dress, but I can tell you right now, it's a size 22 and would completely swallow me. Plus, it's off-the-shoulder, and I doubt the contraption I had to buy to hold me in/push me up/support my major boobage would do anything right now.
(Oh, that was the third post, by the way - telling you that it's my anniversary.)
Ten years. Oh my gracious. Has it really been that long?
And has it really been five years since I've actually been in the same state as my husband on July 11?
He called me at 6:00 a.m. He knew I'd be up anyway. Actually, that's usually the time that the lady from our press facility calls me if there's a problem with a page, so for a half second I thought it might be her. But a glance at the caller ID confirmed it was Jason.
He said he thought about saying, "Uh, Melissa?" like she does when he answers the phone at that hour, but thought about the whole caller ID ruining the joke.
Cheeky monkey.
And how will I celebrate today? Well, I've been invited to the local Rotary meeting at noon, to do a story on their speaker, and they'll buy my lunch. And tonight for dinner, I'll likely feast on a Boca burger and oven potatoes.
And watch I Am Legend, if Netflix is kind enough to ship it to me today.
I was going to treat myself to one of those PediEgg contraptions, but on the news that Jason is having to buy an alternator I decided that was $10 I might not need to spend right now.
Once again, Jason has absconded with both of our computers, so if I want real internet access (not just checking my email on my phone, which is pitifully slow in the absence of a true 3G network down here) I'll have to come to work.
Which is what I end up doing every year this time, anyway.
So, in short - the red heads left, I weigh 148, it's my anniversary.
I guess that'll do for now!

First of all, Happy Anniversary! And wtg on the weight!
The PedEgg rocks! I LOVE it! I do it before bed, slather on vaseline and wear socks over night(that's the worst part, I hate socks!) Soft, silky feet!
I want soft feet! But I don't want to wear socks to bed. I guess I'm not REALLY willing to pay the price for soft feet, then, am I? Hmmm. something to think about.
CONGRATULATIONS!
On being married for 10 years
AND
On losing 89 pounds!!! That is awesome!
And you will get there. You are ON IT girl!
I kinda giggled a bit when you talked about the putting on of the wedding dress. I was a size EIGHT when I got married this time, and NOW I am like a size EIGHTEEN! No ... that's not true ... but I'm not much smaller than that. So ... my struggle would look COMPLETELY different.
So ... how come hubby is gone for every anniversary for the last five years?
I'm glad you are going to do something SPECIAL for your tenth when he gets back. Good for you!
And thanks again for that "proactive post" and for all of your funny comments on my blog. You bust me up and I always look forward to your comments and to reading about your life. I enjoy you so much.
Happy happy!
Oooh ooh ooh!
I almost forgot to tell you:
I watched I am Legend with my hubby last night and I am glad I watched it WITH HIM instead of ALONE because it FREAKED ME OUT!!!
YIKES SQUARED.
No ... that's not enough yikes. Cube that, baby, cuz it was SCARY!!!
But you've probably already watched it, so tell me what YOU think.
Thanks! And thanks Lissete for the PedEgg recommendation!
Wendy - I waited until daytime to watch the movie because I was afraid I'd be freaked out. I liked it, but I thought the ending didn't really work. I found the alternate ending online, and it didn't make much more sense to me!
Every summer since we've been married, Jason goes to a "campmeeting" (where folks from around the region come together for a week and have church services, not sure if all churches do this) and runs the audio/visual system. It's in South Carolina where we used to live. Before we moved, I took off from my job and we all went. I haven't been able to join him, really, since I started at the paper (the first year after we moved, mom, Anna Marie, and I went for part of the week because I was switching positions and someone could cover both. Oh, and gas wasn't $4 a gallon!) so he goes without me. I can't be away from my desk for that long at once!
Besides, this is the only time all year that I get some serious time to myself!
The only bad part is that it ALWAYS falls during our anniversary. It wasn't supposed to this year, but they changed the week they held it, and so it did.
Happy Anniversary.
My dd is completely grossed out by the ped egg commercials. I just put shea butter lotion on my feet every night :o)
I can't believe it's been 10 years! WOW! I think your wedding was the last time I saw you. That's way too long. I'm so glad you found me via google so I could wish you a happy 10th anniversary!
Thanks everyone - but Rachel, didn't we see each other briefly at Michelle's graduation the following year?
No matter. Still way too long! We got the postcard about the class reunion last week, and I'm trying to figure out how to get out there!
You're right. We did see each other then. My memory is not as sharp as it used to be! ;)
I haven't gotten a card about a reunion. Of course, my mail is still being re-routed from the move!
